Capella University Social Work Programs
Graduate Degrees in Social Work
Capella University offers several degrees in social work. Traditional Master of Social Work (MSW) programs offer areas of specialization in various service segments of social work. Some of the more popular choices are counseling, non-profit management and organizational leadership. Capella has several degrees that can provide targeted programs in these and other social work fields. The counseling degrees at Capella have been accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Accreditation is critical for state licensure in counseling.
These degrees generally require clinical experience as part of the academic program; Capella advisors will work with students on arranging an appropriate on-site location for clinical experience that is close to your place of residence.
Capella University also offers a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) that requires a dissertation, as do all doctoral programs. There is a PhD in Human Services degree with the following options for specialization: Management of Non-Profit Agencies, Social & Community Services, and Healthcare Administration. There is also a PhD in Counseling Studies. The areas of concentration at the doctoral level mirror the choices available for master's degree students.
