    San Francisco State University started out as a two-year teacher's college at the turn of the last century. Today, the school offers degrees from eight different colleges. That number continues to grow as they expand their bachelors, masters, and doctorate level degrees. The School of Social Work offers degrees at the bachelor and master's levels.

    Students who qualify may enter the San Francisco State University program for Masters in Social Work. In order to graduate, students must take classes in areas such as social policy analysis, human behavior and the social environment, evaluating research methods in social work, ethnic and cultural concepts, and complete a research project in social work or a Master's thesis.

      San Jose State University sits in the urban downtown of San Jose California. The school offers degree programs from seven different colleges at both the bachelors and Masters levels. The College of Applied Sciences and Arts offers two social work degrees through their School of Social Work.
